The Realme 2 Pro was launched today, on September 27 and was received with great excitement, with the phone offering excellent features such as a 16MP front camera, a Snapdragon 660 AIE processor and a ‘Dewdrop’ notch in a highly likeable package. In a surprise move, at the same launch event, Oppo’s sub-brand Realme introduced another smartphone, of which it had given no hints earlier, called the Realme C1. The handset is now the new entry-level offering from Realme, retailing at just Rs 6,999 with surprisingly advanced features for its price.
While the Realme 2 Pro is a finer Realme 2, the Realme C1 is a more budget-friendly version of the Realme 2. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, has a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a notch, and a 13MP+2MP rear dual camera. The front camera is 5MP and has AI-based features including Face Unlock, and like many entry-level smartphones, comes in only a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage configuration. In this post, we shall detail the launch offers, the sale dates on Flipkart, and the top alternatives to these two handsets.
Realme 2 Pro, Realme C1: First Sale Date on Flipkart
The entry-level Realme C1 (for Champion in one more segment) will go on sale starting October 11, 12pm (noon) on Flipkart exclusively. As mentioned above, there is no RAM choice here, with only a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage configuration. The phone comes at a launch price of Rs 6,999.

The Realme 2 Pro is also a Flipkart exclusive and will go on its first sale on the same date, i.e. October 11. However, the sale time is 12 am, i.e. midnight, or the first minute of October 11, which is a rather unusual and amusing choice of sale time. The price of this handset is Rs. 13,990 for 4GB+64GB, Rs. 15,990 for 6GB+64GB, and Rs. 17,990 for 8GB+128GB.
Realme 2 Pro, Realme C1: Launch Offers on Flipkart
The Realme 2 Pro will sell in three colour options — Black Sea (black), Blue Ocean (dark blue) and Ice Lake (light blue). The Realme C1 will sell only in Blue and Black, with the blue being dark in shade. The launch offers are the same for both handsets. You can avail No Cost EMIs using a Bajaj Finserv card, and a 5 percent off on the bill using a credit card from Axis Bank, RBL Bank, or HDFC Bank. However, the Axis Bank discount limit is capped at a meagre Rs 200, while the RBL Bank gives you a higher limit of Rs 750, but the best saving is done using HDFC Bank credit cards, with a maximum discount limit of Rs 1,250.
Realme 2 Pro, Realme C1: Top 3 Alternatives at this price
The Realme 2 Pro is now a mid-range smartphone, with its price stretching all the way up to Rs 17,990. At this price, you get a decent Dewdrop screen and 8GB RAM with the Realme 2 Pro, but the current best-sellers Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi A2 offer excellent camera equipment. The Mi A2, for instance, comes with a 12MP+20MP rear dual camera and a 20MP front camera, so the Realme 2 Pro is no match to it. Also, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is another Android One device (apart from the Mi A2) at this price point, while the Realme 2 Pro is not and might feel bogged down by the Color OS 5.2 skin based on Android Oreo.
It also misses out on something as crucial as fast charging. The new Vivo V9 Pro can also be bought for Rs 17,990 during Amazon’s Great India Festival in October, and that handset is also powered by a Snapdragon 660 AIE and also has a 16MP front camera, but the real value is to be found in its Super AMOLED display; a rarity in mid-range smartphones. Coming to the similar pricing soon will be the Mi 8 Lite, powered by the same Snapdragon 660 chipset and offering a powerful 24MP front camera and three attractive gradient colour options.
The Realme C1 certainly does many tricks new in the entry-level segment, such as the notched 6.2-inch display, the octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor, and the rear dual camera. Also, it has a solid 4230mAh battery. However, the handset does not come with fast charging, or any other RAM options, so you are stuck with a 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and more importantly, the Realme C1 does not feature a fingerprint sensor.
If you are willing to shell out an extra thousand bucks, you can buy the new Redmi 6 with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a dual 12MP+5MP rear camera, and 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. The Moto E5 Plus sells for a price in India of Rs 8,849 and flaunts a massive 5000mAh battery, a similar dual rear camera and a 3GB RAM. Also, the Realme 2 itself is a perfect alternative to the Realme C1, as it costs just Rs 8,990 but offers an additional fingerprint sensor, a gorgeous diamond-cut finish on the back panel, a 3GB RAM, and an 8MP selfie shooter.
