The iPhone XS Max is the same as the iPhone XS Max with Neural Engine AI enhancements, smart HDR, and 2x optical zoom.

In comparison, the iPhone X has a dual setup of 12-megapixel sensors at f/1.8 and f/2.4, both with OIS with a front-facing camera seeing a f/2.2 7-megapixel lens.

When it comes to picking which iPhone to get, the decision comes purely down to cost. Apple is very good at tiering its offerings to make sure there is something for everyone. If cost is of concern, then the iPhone XR is the device to get, whereas if cost is of no issue, then the iPhone XS Max will see a good option for those who like larger screens, or the iPhone XS for the device with the smaller screen size.
