Huawei’s Nova 3i had the potential to be a worthy contender in the Rs. 20,000 segment of smartphones in India. However, it faces steep competition from the recently launched POCO F1. And let’s not forget the smartphone from Huawei’s sub-brand, the Honor Play (Review). The only aspect in which the Nova 3i stands out is its superb build quality and amazing battery. However, its inconsistent performance and camera make it a really tough sell as the two smartphones mentioned above offer significantly better performance at about the same price.

The Huawei Nova 3i ships with a large 6.3-inch Full HD+ LTPS display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The chipset running in the smartphone is the Kirin 710, which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. You’ll also get space for adding a microSD card for further expansion with this device. The Nova 3i supports a technology called GPU Turbo, which will dramatically increase graphics performance.
As for the camera, the device has a quad-camera setup at the rear consisting of a 16MP+2MP dual-camera unit at the back, where the 2MP unit acts as a depth sensor. The front of the smartphone includes a 24MP shooter that has been paired with a 2MP depth sensor. The Huawei Nova 3i also provides buyers with a wide array of connectivity options such as support for dual-SIM cards, 4G LTE connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, micro USB 2.0, GLONASS, GPS with A-GPS, and Bluetooth 4.2 with LE support. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. All of this is powered by a generous 3340mAh battery which supports up to 10 watts of charging. Unfortunately, the Huawei Nova 3i does not get Qi wireless charging.

With some excellent specs and a now cheaper price, what may not have been a contender in the Rs.20,000 market compared to the competition, the new lower price may bring it into play.
