Huawei Mate 20 Pro Running Android 9 Pie Pops Up on Geekbench Ahead of Official Launch on October 16

Huawei’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Mate 20 Pro has made an appearance on the Geekbench benchmark database ahead of its official unveiling. The Mate 20 Pro is expected to be made official alongside the Mate 20 at an event in London on October 16th.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro: Geekbench Listing Reveals Impressive Performance

The Huawei LYA-L29 listing on Geekbench tells us the smartphone is powered by an octa-core processor with a base frequency of 1.8 GHz, coupled with 6GB of RAM. As confirmed by Huawei already, both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones will be powered by its latest flagship mobile processor, Kirin 980. The smartphone managed to score an impressive 3,390 points in the single-core test and a whopping 10,318 points in the multi-core test. These scores are significantly higher than those achieved by the Kirin 970 as well as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845. Apple’s latest A12 Bionic chipset, however, achieves a higher score in both the single-core and multi-core tests. Announced at IFA this year, Kirin 980 is the first 7nm mobile AI chipset. It is also the world’s first Cortex-A76 architecture chipset, world’s first dual NPU design, and the first to support LTE Cat.21 speeds. In terms of graphics, the Kirin 980 is the world’s first chipset to use a Mali-G76 GPU, claimed to deliver up to 46% higher GPU performance compared to the previous generation.

Apart from the core hardware specs, the Geekbench listing also confirms that the Mate 20 Pro will be running on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box. Both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are expected to feature Huawei’s latest EMUI 9.0 custom overlay.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro: Specifications, Features

According to the latest leaks, the Mate 20 Pro is expected to feature a 6.9-inch curved display with Quad HD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It will be powered by a Kirin 980 chipset under the hood, coupled with 6GB of RAM. In the camera department, the upcoming flagship phablet is expected to sport a triple-camera setup at the rear, similar to the P20 Pro. Some of the other rumored features include an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, 4200mAh battery with SuperCharge fast charging technology, and 3D Face Unlock.
