OnePlus today released an official teaser for its upcoming 6T flagship Android smartphone on its social media pages, ahead of the smartphone’s rumored October 17th launch. In addition to releasing the official teaser, OnePlus has also announced the latest edition of “The Lab” today, providing a chance to 10 lucky OnePlus fans to go hands-on with the OnePlus 6T and share an in-depth review with the OnePlus community.
OnePlus 6T: Official Teaser Now Live
The 5-second teaser video posted by OnePlus on social media today teases the upcoming launch of the OnePlus 6T with ‘unlock the future’ tagline. Quite clearly, the tagline refers to the smartphone’s headline feature, an in-display fingerprint sensor. While a few Chinese Android OEMs have rolled out smartphones featuring in-display fingerprint sensors this year, the feature is still not common in the flagship segment. Sadly, the teaser does not reveal any new info and nor does it confirm the smartphone’s launch date. That said, we do expect OnePlus to send out invites to the upcoming launch event very soon, which should finally confirm the exact date.

OnePlus 6T: Specifications, Features
As confirmed by the 5K renders and 360-degree video of the OnePlus 6T that we brought to you recently, the smartphone will have a ‘waterdrop’ style notch at the top. As we have seen with OPPO and Vivo smartphones featuring a similar notch design, the OnePlus 6T is expected to have a very high screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone’s Optic AMOLED display is likely to measure around 6.4-inches diagonally and feature 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution. Powering the OnePlus 6T will be Qualcomm’s flagship octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset, which happens to power the current OnePlus 6 as well. In addition to sharing the same processor, the OnePlus 6T is tipped to be available in the same three memory configurations as well.
In the camera department, the upcoming OnePlus flagship is likely to have a very similar 16MP + 20MP setup at the rear. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is rumored to utilize a new sensor. Connectivity-wise, the smartphone will have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, USB Type-C, and Dual 4G VoLTE. If a recent leak is to be believed, the OnePlus 6T will offer improved battery life when compared to the OnePlus 6, thanks to a 3700mAh capacity battery. In terms of software, the handset will be running on the Android 9 Pie OS out of the box.

OnePlus 6T: Expected Price in India
Since the OnePlus 6T is not expected to be a significant upgrade compared to the current OnePlus 6, we expect the OnePlus 6T to be launched at an identical starting price of Rs.34,999 in India. Even if OnePlus does decide to price the 6T higher than the 6, we expect the difference to be marginal. Unfortunately, this would mean that the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the OnePlus 6T will be priced above the Rs.40,000 mark in the Indian market.
