Technology is continuously evolving and major developments are taking place. A few years back, the concept of a notched display or even a dual-rear camera setup was unthought of and unimaginable. However, in 2018 almost all phones have those two features. Foldable smartphones are something which companies have been working on for years now, especially Samsung and Huawei who seems to be in some kind of cat and mouse race to be the first to launch a foldable device. Well, it seems like Lenovo may have a trick or two up its sleeve and may even beat Samsung and Huawei to it.

Lenovo: Shows off its Prototype Foldable Smartphone
At Tech World Conference 2018, Lenovo showed off a prototype of its foldable smartphone and the device looks pretty functional. Well, it at least works and that in itself is perhaps groundbreaking. When people think of foldable phones the first thing that comes to the mind is flip phones. However, it seems like Lenovo has reimagined the concept and thought of a foldable device which folds outward instead. This means the display will always be on the outside and therefore, always viewable and usable. This isn’t the only reason though, there’s a technical one too.
While we can’t expect the device to fold as seamlessly as a paper, it does bend at a curve and a gap is formed beneath it. This isn’t really something which will limit the device and perhaps screen can only actually bend so much before the display breaks. This isn’t the first time that Lenovo has been so adventurous. In 2016, the company did show off something similar but it wasn’t as impressive as what it has achieved in 2018. The results are amazing and if this is anything to go buy, in the next few years, the markets could be full of functional foldable smartphones.
