Lenovo Z5 Pro With Bezel-less Display, Slider Mechanism Tipped to Launch on October 1 in China

Lenovo got everyone excited after teasing a notch-less smartphone with 95 percent screen-to-body ratio, and a battery they claimed would provide 30 minutes of talk time even at zero percent. That smartphone turned out to be the Lenovo Z5; but it had a notch, a chin and a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent, as those promises made earlier went unfulfilled. The Z5 turned out to be a disappointment, although, Lenovo’s VP, Liu Jun did claim the smartphone did pretty well in China.

Leaving the Z5 behind, it looks as if Lenovo were telling the truth after all, as VP Liu Jun showcased the smartphone the brand promised had may at a press conference in Beijing. The latest smartphone is the Lenovo Z5 Pro, with almost 100 percent screen-to-body ratio and what looks like a slider camera phone. Liu Jun took to Weibo to announce more official information on the Lenovo Z5 Pro, which will now arrive on Chinese National Day, October 1.

The Lenovo Z5 Pro comes with a notch-less, bezel-less display, meaning the smartphone’s got a full-screen display with a pop-up selfie snapper. The latest design could see the Lenovo Z5 Pro compete with the likes of Vivo NEX (review) and Oppo Find X (review). The Z5 Pro could be Lenovo’s flagship model and a complete replacement for the slightly disappointing Lenovo Z5, which was released earlier this year. The smartphone comes with an array of features which we will explore going further.

Lenovo Z5 Pro: Specifications

Considering this smartphone is a successor to the failed Lenovo Z5, the expectations are naturally higher and expected to outclass its predecessor. That said, the Lenovo Z5 Pro will include a Qualcomm-Snapdragon 845, as this is also the highest grade chipset currently available in the market for flagships. The smartphone will be powered by an Octa-core (4×2.8 GHz Kyro 485 Gold & 4×1.7 GHz Kyro 385 silver) CPU alongside an Adreno 630 GPU. The Lenovo Z5 Pro will run Android 8.1 Oreo. That being said, the Lenovo Z5 turns out to be an upgrade from the Z5 which boasted a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset. There are two reported versions of the Lenovo Z5 Pro, with the base model packs 6GB of RAM and 64GB in internal storage. The higher-end version has 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The smartphone has a 6.42-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 1080×2340 pixels resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, along with multi-touch capabilities and a Corning Gorilla Glass for screen protection, with the version still unspecified. The Lenovo Z5 Pro will have a massive 4000mAh, non-removable battery, probably with fast-charge capabilities, as VP Liu Jun had claimed the smartphone could provide 30-minutes of talk time with zero percent charge.

Lenovo Z5 Pro: Camera and Other Features

As the Lenovo Z5 Pro is expected to compete with Oppo Find X and Vivo NEX, there are higher expectations from the camera this smartphone might carry. From the dual camera set up of 16MP+8MP, the brand has brought in a significant upgrade with the Z5 Pro. The Lenovo Z5 Pro will have a dual camera setup of 20MP+16MP at the back, with features of HDR and Panorama. On the front side, Lenovo has equipped with a massive 25MP selfie snapper for some remarkable shots. As mentioned before, the Lenovo Z5 has a slider front camera function, although unlike the Oppo Find X which has a dedicated motor for the purpose, users have to slide the camera manually.

Some features on the Lenovo Z5 Pro include Face ID, in-display fingerprint scanner, Accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, compass, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0, Type C with 1.0 reversible connector, USB on the go and much more. One disappointment could be the lack of a headphone jack, as Lenovo has wholly omitted the feature on their latest smartphone.

Lenovo Z5 Pro: Price and Availability

Considering the Lenovo Z5 Pro is the flagship smartphone for the brand do not expect it to come at a lower price. The anticipated cost for the Lenovo Z5 Pro could be around Rs. 44,999 considering in the range of competitors Vivo NEX and Oppo Find X. The Smartphone is expected to launch in China on their National Day, October 1.

Availability is one area which we have no specific information yet, although, we will keep users updated as we receive more info on the smartphone in the coming days.
